GT Technologies (GTT) is a leading Tier 1 manufacturer of engine valve train components. Founded over 100 years ago and employing 500 people in five plants (Toledo, Ohio, Defiance, Ohio, Tallahassee, Florida and Curitiba, Brazil), two sales offices and one technical center located in Westland, Michigan. The Tallahassee Plant Manager will be an integral member of the company’s leadership team and have frequent interaction with top management. This Plant Manager will be responsible for the total operations of a manufacturing plant of approximately 105 hourly employees and 25 salaried employees in a facility of 150,000 sq. ft. producing approximately $100M in annual sales. This facility is non-union. The plant runs three shifts.
The selected candidate will strategically direct and be personally responsible for the planning, organization, and effective execution of all strategies and policies for this manufacturing operation, according to the objectives outlined in the Operations business plan. The Plant Manager will have a voice in formulating strategic direction and selling strategies. The directive of achieving manufacturing excellence will include leading the development and deployment of world-class lean manufacturing, quality systems, processes, procedures and initiatives. Driving a culture of continuous improvement in overall productivity, efficiency, quality, cost, delivery, inventory optimization, safety, and employee relations is required as measured by established company performance metrics. The Plant Manager will have operational interface with sister plants.
The Plant Manager will have direct reports in the areas of Plant Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Quality, Logistics and Human Resources. Some individuals will be matrixes in their reporting to functional organizations at the corporate level.
Provides metallurgical and heat treat engineering expertise for: (1) New product/process development including the ability to work effectively with customers and vendors in these development efforts. (2) Continuous control and improvement of existing products and processes. (3) Design, control, and documentation of heat treating processes in both plants.
Develops, plans, coordinates and implements a large and important manufacturing engineering project, or several projects of a smaller scale consisting of complex features. Develops, manages, improves processes, manufacturing flows, layouts and systems.
