Overview

Operates machines in the assembly grinding area, more specifically operates Koyo, Toyo, NOVA and Seat Grinding Machines.

Responsibilities

  • Familiar with all aspects of the operation and layout of assigned machines in the grinding area.
  • Responsible for overall performance of assigned machines, quality, production and uptime.
  • Assures accurate recording of vital information such as mastering log, counts, scrap, time, etc.
  • Maintain fluid level and make adjustments as required for quality.
  • Reads blueprints and uses fixed gages.
  • Fully self-sufficient as an operator once setup has been made by others.
  • Ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Observes all plant and departmental safety and health regulations.
  • Follows housekeeping procedures in maintaining a neat and orderly work area adhering to 5S principles.    

Qualifications

  • Must be able to understand and follow written and spoken instructions in English.
  • Must be able to perform close visual work.
  • Must be able to add and subtract whole numbers and be familiar with shop math and the metric system.
    • Must be able to pass a basic math skills test.
  • Knowledge of SPC concepts, including the measuring of parts and completing control charts.
  • Must be able to read and interpret gages, micrometers, calipers and dial indicators.
  • Must be able to master and calibrate post process gauge system.
  • Must be capable of lifting 40 pounds continuously.
  • Prefer minimum of one year manufacturing experience.
  • Prefer minimum of one year machine operating experience in a Plant environment.
  • Automotive experience is a plus!
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.
