Overview

Plans, designs, coordinates and improves manufacturing processes in plant by performing following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, implements and enhances manufacturing and assembly processes that meet safety, quality and productivity continuous improvement expectations.
  • Develops part routers and in-process prints for various manufacturing operations.
  • Creates and revises Engineering Process documentation detailing tooling, and setup requirements.
  • Implements corrective actions proactively and reactively to prevent nonconforming product.
  • Recommends and designs improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related matters.
  • Reviews proposals of outside vendors regarding purchase of new or modernization of existing production and processing equipment. 
  • Implements and tracks cost savings such as tool life improvements, cycle time and setup reductions, etc.
  • Designs or specifies tooling and other MRO products used in manufacturing.
  • Designs fixture and machine components for replacement and or improvement.
  • Supports onsite Tool Room or outside vendors in the manufacture of tooling and fixturing.
  • Develops prototype parts and processes.
  • Supports the quoting process of new products.
  • Training and development of staff as required.
  • Works with Maintenance and Setup to trouble shoot machine and tooling issues.

Must be able to fulfill any and all customer requirements associated with the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering field, preferably Mechanical.
  • Must have experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Shainin Certification, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TQM or other rapid continuous improvement systems preferred.
  • Tool, gage, and machine design experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, good communication and interpersonal skills desired.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop others both individually and in a team environment.
  • Hands-on approach, flexible and positive working style.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workflow.
  • Must have strong presentation skills and ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment with steel machining, heat treat, grinding, honing, high volume part conveyance.
  • Manage small projects or products.
  • Microsoft software -- must be competent in the use of Excel and Word; MS project is a plus.
  • CAD Software Solid Edge or Solid Works are preferred.
