Makes and repairs ordinary tools, fixtures, gages, and experimental parts under the close to moderate supervision of a more experienced and higher level employee. Needs to be self-starter and highly motivated to complete job requirements
Performs basic setting and operating of tool room equipment to machine ordinary tools, fixtures, gages, and experimental parts.
Services machines and makes set ups on standard tool room equipment, including tool sharpening.
Produces quality and quantity work in accordance with departmental requirements.
Assures accurate recording of all required paperwork.
Observes all plant and departmental safety practices and procedures.
Cleans chips and scrap from machines as necessary.
Ability to run CNC Equipment
Performs preventive maintenance as required.
Keeps machines lubricated, and checks coolant tanks, refilling as necessary.
Follows required housekeeping procedures in maintaining a neat and orderly work area.
Must be familiar with tool steels and capable of properly handling, machining, grinding and heat treating these materials.
Must be familiar with carbide and the proper handling, grinding and brazing of these
Must be able to understand and follow instructions in English.
Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints.
Must have demonstrated mechanical ability.
Must have 4 year's experience as a machinist
Must have good knowledge of shop math.
Must be familiar with precision gages such as micrometers, dial indicators, verniers, and sine plates.
